
Carey Applegate works with K–12 districts, higher education institutions, and education organizations to make digital accessibility clearer, more practical, and more sustainable. She brings a background in public education, instructional design, and higher education accessibility and policy, with a focus on identifying high-risk accessibility issues, explaining legal and technical requirements in plain language, and recommending realistic next steps that fit institutional capacity.
Carey holds a PhD in English Education from Illinois State University and a master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Mississippi, and she is a Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) through the International Association of Accessibility Professionals.
